Caporales

So this dance is called Caporales, and it's one of my favourites. Lucas danced it last year at his school's Bolivia Day, so I even recognized the music. My favourite part is the bells on the guys' boots, which make a wonderful (and loud) accompanying jingle. I feel sorry for the girls who have to dance in such short skirts, though!

it looks like some of the students were more into it than others. What is with the guy with the loud frilly outfit? was he part of the dance?
Love you

Yeah, the guy in the frilly/creepy outfit is part of the dance, but I'm not sure exactly where he fits in. It's probably symbolic in some way that is beyond my cultural understanding. :)
Love you too!

I too wondered about the guy in the frilly outfit - thanks for asking Ruth and gracias Rach for answering. Looking forward to more of the cultural dances - great way to give us more tastes of Bolivia.
Cultural dance for BC - now that is a hard question to answer. Of course our many bands of 1st Nations would have their dances.
Have a good week Rachael,
xo Beth
